Softball Recap: Mia Smith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Port Barre

Teurlings Catholic won against Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy last Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Rebels didn't even let the Port Barre Red Devils on the board, marking the Rebels' second-straight 10-0 shutout. This was payback for the Rebels, who suffered an 8-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Reagan Brasseaux's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Teurlings Catholic got a massive performance out of Mia Smith, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in March. Bailee Hebert was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Teurlings Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Teurlings Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 12-13-1. As for Port Barre, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-9.

Coming up, Teurlings Catholic will square off against Berwick at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Port Barre, they will be playing at home against Delcambre at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
