Softball Game Preview: Rappahannock County vs. Eastern View Cyclones

Rappahannock County will square off against the Eastern View Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Rappahannock County has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Eastern View will arrive with three straight victories.

Friday just wasn't the day for Rappahannock County's offense. They lost 20-0 to Clarke County on Friday.

Meanwhile, Eastern View put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let Spotsylvania get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Not much got past Cailin Rendell, who gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks to keep Spotsylvania off the board. Rendell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sara Hopper, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Eastern View pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Rappahannock County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
