Recap: Riverdale Warriors vs. Stewarts Creek Red Hawks
If the Riverdale Warriors were riding high off their 65-41 takedown of the Mount Juliet Golden Bears on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Riverdale took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stewarts Creek on Friday. Riverdale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Stewarts Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.
Hudson Fuqua and Gray Turek certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Fuqua scored 10 points, while Turek scored 7 points. Turek is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Ryan Edmiston was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Stewarts Creek, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Riverdale will head out on the road to face off against Smyrna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Smyrna's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Stewarts Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Magnet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
