Basketball Recap: West Seneca West Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

West Seneca West waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the Nardin Academy Gators 59-41. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Gators are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Seneca West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bellarose Milligan out in front who posted 17 points and five assists. Milligan is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Gunnells, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Milligan wasn't the only one working in the assists department: West Seneca West was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nardin Academy only racked up six assists.

Defeat or not, Nardin Academy got some senior leadership from Kara Krupski and Madeline Dehn. Krupski put up ten points and three steals, while Dehn earned 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Dehn.

West Seneca West's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Nardin Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Seneca West will square off against Starpoint at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nardin Academy, they will take on Cardinal O'Hara at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
