Wednesday just wasn't the day for Goretti's offense. They lost 11-0 to the Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm on Wednesday. Goretti has struggled against Mercersburg Academy recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Goretti saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Summers, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Even though they lost, Goretti didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercersburg Academy only tossed three.
On Mercersburg Academy's side, they got a massive performance out of Adi Rinker, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamden Jenkins, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Goretti's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Mercersburg Academy, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Goretti does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mercersburg Academy, they will be playing at home against Lawrenceville School at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
