Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Long Beach Poly's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

While Long Beach Poly put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Compton. The Jackrabbits were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Tarbabes. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Jackrabbits considering their one-run performance the game before.

Long Beach Poly let Deven Munoz and Antonio Yepez run wild. Munoz earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Yepez went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Yepez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Guggenheim, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Long Beach Poly is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Compton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 16 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Long Beach Poly will head out to face off against Edison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Compton, they will venture away from home to challenge Dominguez at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
