Softball Recap: Cottondale Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cottondale ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Walton Braves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 back in February.

Annelise Skipper spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

Cottondale's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Walton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Cottondale will welcome Wewahitchka at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Walton, they will venture away from home to challenge Ponce De Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
