Softball Recap: Belleview Drops Season-High Score on North Marion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belleview). Everything went their way against the North Marion Colts on Thursday as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Rattlers haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ally Axe was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Axe was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Belleview got a massive performance out of Harper Foote, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Foote a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Quartararo, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Belleview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.8.

Belleview now has a winning record of 9-8. As for North Marion, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Belleview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-5 win against Lake Minneola on the 11th. As for North Marion, they will face off against Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
