Basketball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland's tournament run continued when they took on Maury on Saturday. The Lakeland Cavaliers fell 60-47 to the Maury Commodores. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while the Commodores are ranked 18th).

Lakeland dropped their record down to 6-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Maury, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will challenge Grassfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maury, they will be playing at home against Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
