Basketball Recap: Eastern View Comes Up Short

Eastern View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Courtland Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Cougars are ranked 136th).

Leading Courtland to victory were Jasmine Young and Raegan Edwards. Young dropped a double-double with 14 points and 18 boards, while Edwards went 7-for-11 to rack up 15 points and four steals. Those 15 points gave Edwards a new career-high.

Eastern View's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Courtland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Eastern View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-33 defeat against James Monroe on the 13th. As for Courtland, they have also already played their next contest, a 93-55 loss against Culpeper County on the 13th.
