West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janayah Young, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Young has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Atelaite Fa was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Kearns hadn't done well against West recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Panthers 21-11.
Stephani Serna was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rami Hasna, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Kearns always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Kearns' victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Kearns struggles in that department as they've averaged .509. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
