Flag Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Mariia Dykalenko and Fayth Turnbaugh Leads Douglas County over Heritage

After only 12 points in their last game, Douglas County made sure to put some points up on the board against Heritage on Friday. The Huskies enjoyed a cozy 31-12 win over the Eagles. The Huskies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Douglas County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mariia Dykalenko and Fayth Turnbaugh. Dykalenko also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12.

Although Heritage took the loss, they still got scores from Alena Shinabery and Taya Steffen.

Douglas County pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.7 points over those games. As for Heritage, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coincidentally, Douglas County and Heritage will both be playing Rock Canyon the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Huskies will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
