Baseball Recap: Douglass Takes a Loss

Douglass and Academy for College and Career Exploration squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Douglass had to settle for second. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Academy for College and Career Exploration. The Mighty Ducks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Academy for College and Career Exploration apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Wilmer Rivero was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Rivero wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Roche-Ramos, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Roche-Ramos has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Douglass' record is now 6-3. As for Academy for College and Career Exploration, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4.

As of now, neither Douglass nor Academy for College and Career Exploration have any future games scheduled.
