While North Duplin didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their defense stepped up to hand the Rosewood Eagles a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for North Duplin, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The victory (which was North Duplin's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Rosewood, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-7-1.

Looking ahead, North Duplin will host East Duplin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rosewood, they will venture away from home to face off against Neuse Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neuse Charter will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Rosewood surely won't give up without a fight.
