The Colorado Springs School came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Elbert, but Melanie Hermes wouldn't allow it. The Bulldogs skirted past the Kodiaks 3-2 thanks in part to Hermes, who had 38 digs and eight aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.

Elbert had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-15, 15-11.

Elbert's record now sits at 14-7. As for The Colorado Springs School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.

Elbert will be playing in front of their home fans against Ascent Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Guardians will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for The Colorado Springs School, they will take on St. Mary's in a tournament on the 25th.
