Baseball Recap: Mount Olive Comes Up Short

Mount Olive lost against McLaurin on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mount Olive fell 18-13 to McLaurin. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Haiden Payne made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Mount Olive: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavion Griffin, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Mount Olive always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mount Olive's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for McLaurin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Coming up, Mount Olive will venture away from home to take on North Forrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for McLaurin, they will welcome Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McLaurin will need to watch out since Enterprise has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
