Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Alter Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Archbishop Alter had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Fairmont Firebirds by a score of 3-2. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Firebirds recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Archbishop Alter sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-27, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11.

Channing Hawes paced Archbishop Alter's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hawes got some help from Charlie Hart and his 35 assists. Finally, Nicholas Johnston kept Archbishop Alter's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Fairmont has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Archbishop Alter will challenge Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairmont, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Centerville on the 20th.
