Softball Preview: Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders vs. Liberty Hurricanes

The Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the Liberty Hurricanes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Notre Dame-Green Pond proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Wilson Area out 5-3. The win was nothing new for Notre Dame-Green Pond as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rachel Fisher made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Fisher was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with a home run.

In other batting news, Skyler Howlett was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Natalie Lilly, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Liberty can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game two weeks ago. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Pleasant Valley.

Notre Dame-Green Pond's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Liberty, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
