Soccer Game Preview: North Schuylkill vs. Pine Grove

The North Schuylkill Spartans will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Pine Grove Cardinals at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

North Schuylkill managed to keep up with Minersville until halftime on September 13th, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Spartans lost 4-0 to the Battlin' Miners.

Meanwhile, Pine Grove kept a clean sheet against Williams Valley on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings, sneaking past 1-0. The victory continues a trend for Pine Grove in their matchups with Williams Valley: they've now won seven in a row.

Pine Grove's one-goal win came courtesy of Kendra Umbenhauer, who's now up to five this season.

Pine Grove's win bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for North Schuylkill, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

North Schuylkill beat Pine Grove 2-0 in their previous meeting on September 6th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
