Football Recap: Burnet Comes Up Short

Burnet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. The match between the Bulldogs and the East View Patriots didn't end well, with the Bulldogs falling 42-28. The Bulldogs lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-0 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Burnet lost, don't look at Josiah Coronado. Despite the final result, he rushed for 121 yards.

East View got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayvion Clater out in front who rushed for 53 yards and four scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Cormyc Guerrero, who threw for 226 yards while completing 72% of his passes.

Burnet's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for East View, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Burnet will look to defend their home field on Friday against Little River Academy at 7:30 p.m. As for East View, they will venture away from home to square off against Belton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
