Softball Recap: Marple Newtown Extends Winning Streak to Ten

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Marple Newtown had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the East Vikings 2-0. The win was familiar territory for the Fightin' Tigers, who have now won ten games in a row.

Not much got past Ally Snyder, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep East off the board.

On the hitting side, Marple Newtown let Nicole Semerjian and Kirsten Adams run wild. Semerjian went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Adams went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Marple Newtown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Marple Newtown's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for East, they moved to 16-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Marple Newtown will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bristol at 10:00 a.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Fightin' Tigers have won seven straight at home, while the Warriors won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
