Volleyball Recap: San Mateo Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Aaron Guo and Grant Greenburg

San Mateo suffered their biggest defeat since March 4th on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to the Carlmont Scots. The loss continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Scots: they've now lost seven in a row.

San Mateo might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Carlmont: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

San Mateo's loss came despite strong showings from Grant Greenburg and Aaron Guo. Greenburg had 31 assists and five digs, while Guo had 19 kills and five digs. Guo has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more kills the last three times he's played.

Leading Carlmont to victory were Hean Ng and Jonathan Edwards. Ng had 12 digs, while Edwards had ten kills and eight digs. Vincent Yip also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.

San Mateo now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Carlmont, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

San Mateo has already played their next matchup (against Lowell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Carlmont, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Hillsdale on the 28th.
