Basketball Game Preview: Beatty Hornets vs. Tonopah Muckers

The Beatty Hornets will square off against the Tonopah Muckers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Beatty comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Beatty is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Indian Springs on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Beatty was outmatched by Indian Springs and fell 64-34. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tonopah). They blew past Round Mountain 65-40 on Tuesday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Muckers had established a 21 point advantage.

Tonopah is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Beatty, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Beatty was dealt a bruising 56-25 defeat at the hands of Tonopah in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Beatty was down 36-8.
