Lamar faced Madison-Ridgeland Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Raiders fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Libby Tulip paced Lamar's offense, picking up 19 kills. Tulip got some help from Rylee Schimelpfening and her 42 assists. Tulip also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Charlotte Tulip, each putting up two.

Lamar's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 25-6. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 29-15.

Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Jackson Academy on the 21st.
