Football Recap: Escalon Falls Despite Big Games from Dylan Ball and Logan Huebner + How To Watch

After flying high against Rodriguez last Friday, Escalon came back down to earth. The Cougars fell 37-30 to the Chavez Titans on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Titans are ranked 502nd).

Despite the loss, Escalon had strong showings from Logan Huebner, who threw for 201 yards and two TDs, and Dylan Ball, who gained 163 total yards.

Joel Donnell was nothing short of spectacular for Chavez: he rushed for 272 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Donnell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 97-yard run. Another player making a difference was Elijah Walker, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Escalon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Chavez, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escalon will challenge Oakdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chavez, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
