Basketball Recap: Waggener Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Waggener challenged Grayson County on Sunday. The Wildcats fell 82-75 to the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Cougars are ranked 25th).

Waggener has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season. As for Grayson County, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waggener will welcome Fairdale at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Grayson County, they will be playing at home against Muhlenberg County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
