Football Recap: Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski Wins Going Away Against Oblong

After only eight points in their last matchup, Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski made sure to put some points up on the board against Oblong on Saturday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 58-36 margin over the Panthers. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 30-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jaeden Jackson threw for 75 yards and one touchdown. Garrett VerHeecke was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards. On the ground, Isaiah Johnson rushed for 376 yards and five scores on only 13 carries.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Oblong, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski will welcome St. Anne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Lions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Oblong, they will venture away from home to square off against Pawnee/Lincolnwood at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
