Softball Recap: Moss Point Comes Up Short

Moss Point extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-8. They came up short against the Pascagoula Panthers, falling 23-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 back in February.

As for Pascagoula, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-3. That looming 23-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Pascagoula's part, Brianna Sharpton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Sharpton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Pascagoula got a massive performance out of Ty'Mia Bell, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Bell has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Wells, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Coming up, Moss Point will head out on the road to square off against Greene County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Pascagoula, they will host D'Iberville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
