League recap: Kearney Catholic tops Minden to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in C1 District 9 this week, Kearney Catholic beat Minden 23-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Stars.

Chase County took down Mitchell 70-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Jake Paulsen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Cozad beat Gothenburg.

Paulsen was a beast in the backfield as the Haymakers defeated the Swedes.

Paulsen was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 214 yards as Cozad beat the Whippets. Colin Wetovick also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.

Dave Colling's team's John Masker and Holtmeier have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Masker has thrown for 570 yards this season, while Holtmeier has 19 catches for 349 yards. Paulsen from Brian Cargill's team leads the league in rushing with 808 yards.

The top two teams in C1 District 9 will face off this week when first place Kearney Catholic takes on second place Cozad. Last week, the Stars topped Minden, while the Haymakers defeated Gothenburg.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Kearney Catholic and Cozad face off next week.
