Softball Game Preview: Orange Panthers vs. Southern Alamance Patriots

The Orange Panthers will take on the Southern Alamance Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Orange's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Person as Orange made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Orange got a great performance from Malynne Roemmich as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Roemmich has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Orange let Katie Carden and Allie Carden run wild. Katie went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Allie went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Cecil, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Orange was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Southern Alamance can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Roxboro Community by a score of 12-9.

Orange has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. Southern Alamance now has a winning record of 6-5.

Orange couldn't quite get it done against Southern Alamance in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can Orange avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
