Baseball Game Preview: Alhambra Lions vs. Willow Canyon Wildcats

The Alhambra Lions will take on the Willow Canyon Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Alhambra comes in on three and Willow Canyon on four.

Alhambra gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over McClintock.

Meanwhile, Willow Canyon was able to grind out a solid win over Desert Mountain on Thursday, taking the game 7-3.

Jackson Duce looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Willow Canyon got a massive performance out of Santiago Reyes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Reyes a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Davidson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Alhambra pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Willow Canyon, their record now sits at 16-5.

Alhambra was able to grind out a solid victory over Willow Canyon when the teams last played back in April of 2021, winning 5-0. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
