Football Preview: Savanna Rebels vs. Pioneer Titans
Savanna has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the Pioneer Titans at 6:30 p.m.
Last Friday, Savanna took a blow against Anaheim, falling 53-18. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Colonists recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Fabrissio Ramirez, who picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 79 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Eich, who threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pioneer). They claimed a resounding 55-0 win over Bassett at home. Considering the Titans have won three games by more than 35 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Pioneer had a senior duo take command as Amiri Resendiz threw for 88 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing and Adrian Lopez rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 108 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Lopez. Damian Salguero handled things on the ground, rushing for 87 yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pioneer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Savanna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pioneer, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
