Football Recap: Latreyveon Davis and Emerson Paulk Pace Wetumpka Defense + How To Watch

Wetumpka extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They came up short against the Pike Road Patriots, falling 29-6. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 17-12 to the Patriots when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wetumpka didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Latreyveon Davis and Emerson Paulk. Paulk also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Walter Myrick was another major factor on D, making 19 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

As for Pike Road, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games.

Pike Road had a senior duo take command as O'Mari Smith gained 164 total yards and two touchdowns and Mike Jones rushed for 119 yards and one score. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 102.5 rushing yards per game.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wetumpka will venture away from home to square off against Rehobeth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pike Road, they will head out to take on Percy Julian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will be up against the Phoenix's rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
