Softball Game Preview: Waxahachie Indians vs. Midway Panthers

The Waxahachie Indians will square off against the Midway Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Waxahachie and Duncanville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Indians took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers and Pantherettes.

Meanwhile, Midway waltzed into their match on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. Everything went their way against the Bulldawgs as they made off with a 21-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Midway pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Waxahachie, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9.

Waxahachie couldn't quite get it done against Midway when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
