Preview: St. Joseph Catholic Eagles vs. Bracken Christian Warriors
The St. Joseph Catholic Eagles will be playing at home against the Bracken Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Joseph Catholic has nine straight wins, Bracken Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
St. Joseph Catholic stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They beat Living Stones Christian by the very same score they won with last week: 60-6.
Meanwhile, last Friday just wasn't the day for Bracken Christian's offense. They took a serious blow against Hill Country Christian, falling 64-0. While losing is never fun, Bracken Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Hill Country Christian is ranked 91st).
St. Joseph Catholic has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 O'Connell and 1-7 Cristo Rey Jesuit (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.7% over those games). As for Bracken Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
St. Joseph Catholic ended up a good deal behind Bracken Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2019, losing 45-30. Thankfully for St. Joseph Catholic, Joshua Schroeder (who rushed for 224 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
