Basketball Recap: Bear Grass Charter Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Bear Grass Charter had won two straight road games and Aubery Dotson did her part to make it three on Tuesday. The Bear Grass Charter Bears strolled past the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes with points to spare, taking the game 54-39 thanks in part to Dotson, who went 9 for 14 en route to 23 points and five boards. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Despite the loss, Cape Hatteras saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor Hickman went 8 of 13 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Eryn Ratliff was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Bear Grass Charter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Cape Hatteras, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bear Grass Charter will head out to challenge Gates County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gates County will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Bear Grass Charter surely won't give up without a fight. Cape Hatteras has already played their next matchup (against Mattamuskeet), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
