Arcola strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Heritage Hawks with a sharp 16-5 win. The Purple Riders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Brody Phillips made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brevyn Whisman, who fired off three home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Griffith, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Arcola lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only launched one home run.

Arcola's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Heritage, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Arcola is set to square off against their familiar foe Argenta-Oreana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Heritage will face off against rival Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
