New Heights Christian Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past the Miller Cardinals with a 63-59 win. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 62-54 loss the last time these two teams met.

New Heights Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Adam Stanton dropped a double-double with 25 points and 14 boards and Ben Schumacher shot 71% from the field en route to 15 points. Jadon Smith was another key player, putting up seven points.

Miller's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

New Heights Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-43 victory against Southern Missouri RUSH on the 25th. As for Miller, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sarcoxie at 6:00 p.m. on December 19. This will be the Cardinals' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
