Basketball Recap: Port St. Lucie Jaguars vs. Jensen Beach Falcons
Port St. Lucie lost against Jensen Beach back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Port St. Lucie Jaguars took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jensen Beach Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Falcons are ranked 194th).
Despite the loss, Port St. Lucie still got an impressive performance from Daniel Alexis, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alijah Baez, who posted 11 points.
Even though they lost, Port St. Lucie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jensen Beach only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Cordell Wilkins was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points for Jensen Beach. The team also got some help courtesy of Vari Newson, who put up seven points and five rebounds.
Port St. Lucie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Jensen Beach, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port St. Lucie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jensen Beach, they will face off against Okeechobee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
