Basketball Recap: Westwood Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Monona last Monday, Westwood came back down to earth. The Westwood Rebels fell just short of the St. Mary's Hawks by a score of 49-47 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Hawks are ranked 98th).

Westwood has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. St. Mary's pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

As of now, neither Westwood nor St. Mary's have any future games scheduled.
