Volleyball Game Preview: Oxford Academy Patriots vs. Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators

The Oxford Academy Patriots will challenge the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oxford Academy has four straight wins, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Oxford Academy's victory against Brea Olinda wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Oxford Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Brea Olinda on Thursday, sneaking past 3-2.

Oxford Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Whitney on Saturday and fell 2-1.

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Oxford Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
