Baseball Recap: Bloomington North Takes Down Terre Haute South Vigo in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bloomington North had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-1 back in April.

The team relied heavily on Chris Barnett, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Bloomington North is 8-2 when Barnett posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Will Breedlove, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The win (which was Bloomington North's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.

Coming up, Bloomington North will challenge Terre Haute North Vigo at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.3, the Patriots 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Terre Haute South Vigo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
