Basketball Recap: New Kent Comes Up Short

New Kent lost against Warhill back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The New Kent Trojans received a blow as they fell 47-33 to the Warhill Lions. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Warhill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from D'Shela Walker, who posted 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Warhill's points. Taleah James was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

New Kent's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Warhill, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Kent will head out to face off against Poquoson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warhill, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Woodside at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
