Basketball Recap: Fort Frye Piles Up the Points Against Newcomerstown

Fort Frye won the last time they faced Newcomerstown and things went their way on Monday too. The Cadets blew past the Trojans 55-26. The Cadets' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Fort Frye got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Dowler out in front who went 8-for-19 to rack up 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Dowler is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Raelann Morgenstern, who shot 55% from the field on her way to 15 points and five steals.

Fort Frye's record is now 5-0. As for Newcomerstown, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Fort Frye will face off against West Muskingum at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newcomerstown, they will head out to face off against Conotton Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will be up against the Rockets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
