Softball Game Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. Hoke County Bucks

The Jack Britt Buccaneers will head out to face off against the Hoke County Bucks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with four losses in a row dating back to last season, Jack Britt turned things around against Fairmont on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Golden Tornadoes 8-7.

The team relied heavily on Sophie Casagrande, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Ta'Niyah Turner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Hoke County posted their closest win since April 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past St. Pauls 11-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bucks.

Hoke County let Chica Amador and Alyssa Cascavilla run wild. Amador scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Cascavilla scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Harrell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hoke County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The victory got Jack Britt back to even at 1-1. As for Hoke County, their record now sits at 2-0.

Jack Britt came up short against Hoke County in their previous matchup on Tuesday, falling 10-6. Can Jack Britt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
