With a playoff win on the line, Lyford rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Monte Alto Blue Devil with a sharp 19-3 victory. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Diego Medina was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lyford got a massive performance out of Cole Busse, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Busse a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gael Silva, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Lyford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Lyford's eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Monte Alto, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

As of now, neither Lyford nor the Blue Devil have any future games scheduled.
