Basketball Recap: Bunker Hill Comes Up Short

Bunker Hill played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 67-24 loss at the hands of the Maiden Blue Devils. The Bears have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Bunker Hill still got an impressive performance from Bailee Carswell, who posted three points. The dominant performance also gave Carswell a new career-high in assists (two).

Leading Maiden to victory were Khiara Culliver and Raegan Rembert. Culliver dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards, while Rembert dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten steals. Culliver has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Willow Bass, who scored 14 points.

Bunker Hill's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Maiden, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bunker Hill will host Newton-Conover at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maiden, they will welcome Lincolnton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maiden is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season.
