The home team had won the previous three meetings between West Orange and Montclair, and West Orange kept the tradition alive. The Mountaineers won by a set and slipped past the Mounties 2-1. The Mountaineers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mounties on Thursday, too.

West Orange had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-23, 25-20.

Nola Duncan paced West Orange's offense, picking up 18 kills. Duncan got some help from Cailee Cassidy and her 29 assists. Finally, Olivia Raines kept West Orange's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

West Orange's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, West Orange will take on Passaic County Tech at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Montclair, they will face off against Nutley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
