Football Game Preview: West Point Green Wave vs. Pontotoc Warriors + Official Tickets

West Point has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Pontotoc has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Green Wave will welcome the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Point is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Vicksburg 42-19. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Green Wave's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked first, while the Gators are ranked 80th).

West Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quentin Thompson led the charge by rushing for 136 yards on only nine carries. Thompson's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Kingston Branham was another key back, rushing for 118 yards on only 15 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pontotoc got themselves on the board against Lanier on Friday, but Lanier never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 27-0 win over the Bulldogs.

West Point's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Pontotoc, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Everything came up roses for West Point against Pontotoc when the teams last played back in October, as the team secured a 50-13 victory. In that contest, the Green Wave amassed a halftime lead of 30-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
