Spanish Fork took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maple Mountain, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Dons narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Golden Eagles 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dons have posted since April 14, 2025.

Paizley Boman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Lia Higginson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was McKenna Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Spanish Fork hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Spanish Fork's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-4. As for Maple Mountain, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Looking ahead, Spanish Fork will face off against Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 12.7 runs per game this season. As for Maple Mountain, they will challenge Timpview at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
